    VGER missing as a DSN when linking tables

    Problem symptoms

    VGER does not appear as a DSN option in Access > External Data > ODBC Database > Link to the Data Source > Select Data Source > Machine Data Source tab

    Cause

    This may occur if the ODBC installation fails to add the VGER DSN

    Resolution

    1. Open the C:\Voyager\Access Reports\Reports.mdb file in Access
    2. Click External Data > ODBC Database
    3. Click Link to the data source by creating a linked table
    4. Click Machine Data Source tab > New...
    5. In the pop-up Create New Data Source window, click System Data Source > Next...
    6. Select Microsoft ODBC for Oracle from the list of drivers
    7. Click Finish
    8. In the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup pop-up window, enter the following then click OK:

    Data Source Name: VGER

    Description: tables

    User Name: ro_xxxdb

    Server: VGER
