    Question

Can I change part of a string in a field using the Replace String With String consequence in Global Data Change (GDC)?

    Answer

Yes.  This consequence will replace a specific string that is inside a larger string.  For example if you want to change a string like this:

    (upgd41)omn26633970

    To a string like this:

    (OCoLC)26633970

You can use these parameters in your GDC Rule Consequence Template:

    Replace string: (upgd41)ocm
    With string: (OCoLC)

    Additional Information

The "Replace String With String" consequence matches on an exact match.
