    Question

How does GDC match records with Match Job?

What mechanism does GDC use for record matching?

    Answer

GDC uses a generated 035. When importing any record into Voyager, Voyager will generate an 035 by combining the 001 + 003 from the incoming MARC record, and will add this new 035 field to the record.

When GDC processes a record file via Match Job, it generates an 035 from the incoming record's 001 + 003 control fields and uses that value to match against 035 fields for existing records in the database.

All matching records are added to the resulting record set.
