    Question

There are two executables starting with Voyager 8 -- AcquisitionsStart.exe and CatalogStart.exe; what are these executables for?

    Answer

Prior to Voyager 8, after a new client install, Cataloging and Acquisitions had to be run for the first time by an operator with Administrator privileges on the PC.

The new *Start.exe files address this issue by allowing operators with more restrictive permissions to launch Cataloging and Acquisitions.

The *Start.exe files must be used to launch the client for the first time after a new install or client update. The desktop shortcuts for Cataloging and Acquisitions are set to use these executables by default to ensure consistently successful execution of these clients.

    Additional Information

Support advises customers to follow the client installation instructions provided in: Overview of Voyager client installation process and when installing the clients. Note as pointed out in the Overview that it is important to log into an account on the PC with administrative privileges when installing the clients.
