    Question

What happens to patrons who owe money on items lost or overdue once you uncheck the System Administration - System - Miscellaneous option to "Retain Patron ID for Circ History"?

    Answer

Fines stay in the database and associated with the patron record. Patron IDs are written to the CIRC_TRANSACTIONS / CIRC_TRANS_ARCHIVE tables only while the "Retain Patron ID for Circulation History" box is checked in System Administration > System > Miscellaneous.
