    Question

We are receiving this message in Self Check: "AFPatron has duplicate active barcodes/patron groups. Please specify which patron group to reference."
What is the appropriate response for SIP2 to specify a patron group?

    Answer

The Screen Message AF in the Patron Information Response (64) message is not supported.

    Additional Information

The message indicates that the patron has duplicate active barcodes/patron groups.

If a patron does have duplicate barcodes/patron groups, this is apparent in the Circulation client via a pop-up message; however, SIP2 doesn't have the ability to send patron group info back as part of the response. Therefore, different barcodes need to be used with different patron groups in order to indicate to Self Check which barcode/patron group combination it should be using.
