We have an item that's currently charged out, and along with the Charged status and due date, it's displaying the Free Text field from the item record. Why is that on display?

Answer

The webvoyage.properties file where the "Charged" status display is defined is using the \\i substitution token.

holdings.item.status.2=\\i Charged - Due on \\d \\u

\\i will display information from the item record's Enum, Chron, Year, Caption and Free Text fields.
