Why does it take several days for item status to change after discharge?

    • Product: Voyager

    Question

When we discharge an item at one of our Circulation locations, it is several days before the status changes from Discharged to Not Charged. Is there a way to make that happen faster?

    Answer

Yes. The change from Discharged to Not Charged is controlled by the circulation location's Shelving Interval in System Administration. You can set this interval to approximately reflect the time it takes for an item to reach its home on a shelf after discharge.

System Administration > Circulation > Policy Definitions > [policy] > Edit > Locations > [circulation location] in the Shelving Interval setting.

You can set any number from 0-999 with an interval of minutes, hours or days.  Enter 0 if everything discharged at this location is reshelved immediately.

    Additional Information

See Chapter 5 of the System Administration User's Guide, Table 5-13.
