    Description:
We did some global changes, the last step of which was to run p_manage_50 to create items for existing bibs. We found that newly created items were not linked to existing HOL records. Also, we would like item barcodes auto generated by manage-50 to be the regular bib sysid followed by the sequence number.

    Resolution:
p_manage_50 does not link new items to existing holdings. Nor does the documentation appear to indicate that it will do so. It talks about the possibility of deriving new holdings records from the items created and talks about leaving existing holdings records alone, but it does not say that it will link new items to existing holdings. I looked also at the code itself, and I don't see anyplace where it would do this.

As far as the program-generated barcodes, manage-50 appears to have only one logic for how these are generated. it grabs the next "sequence" number for "last-barcode-number" from the Z52 table. There does not appear to be any configuration option for changing how it generates barcodes.
