Cannot move Serial order and subscription in version 20

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
We are presented with an error message when moving records on the cataloging navigation pane. The steps in the workflow which worked in v.19, are outlined below. tab_move_record is identical in v19 and v20.

Move S order and subscription with linked items; subscription linked to holding
    a. unlink subscription from holding on source record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    b. unlink item(s) from holding on source record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    c. unlink item(s) from subscription on source record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    d. unlink item(s) from order (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    e. move holding from source record to target record
    f. move order from source record to target record
    g. move subscription from source record to target record
    h. move unlinked item(s) from source record to target record
    i. relink subscription to holding on target record
    j. relink item(s) to holding on target record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    k. relink item(s) to subscription on target record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    l. relink item(s) to order on target record (use Bind/Change function if many items)
    m. if using prediction, change $$9 value of 853X field if subscription sequence number has changed
    n. check and update status of source record as necessary

    Resolution:
You can move the Subscription from source to target, but when you subsequently try to move the Order from source to target, you will get the "Can't move Order - Order is connected to Subscription" warning. If you delete the Order No. link in the Subscription, you can then move the Order. (You will need to explicity put the Order link back in the Order No. field of the Subscription record.)

If you first remove the Order No. link in the Subscription record, then you can move the two records in either order. Again, you will needed to explicity put the Order link back in the Order No. field of the Subscription record.
