Cannot place hold in ALEPH 22; "Oracle error: fetch z700"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 22

    Problem Symptoms:
Placing a request or hold for an item does not result in the hold being displayed in the My Library Card area nor does a run of the cir-11 service.

When the hold is placed via the Web OPAC, the www_server log shows the following:

    WWW-F : ITEM-HOLD-REQUEST-C
    ...
    ...
    Oracle error: fetch z700
ORA-01007: variable not in select list

The same errors occur in doing util f/4 for the xxx50 z700 table.

    Cause:
As described in Article 000011209 (Oracle: "fetch znnn" & "variable not in select list"; "Libraries to be upgraded") these messages indicate a problem in Upgrade Express. In this case, the update of the z700 should have been performed by upgrade_express_2001_2101 step 1036.

    Resolution:
Check the upgrade_express_2001_2101 step 1036 log.

If using ILL, the 1036 step needs to be run again successfully for the xxx50 table.
    If not using ILL:

    > dlib xxx50
    > util a - 17 - 1 for z700

Also, in this case, the z303_ill_library field in the z303 (Global patron) record should be blank.
