Changing sublibrary codes

Description:
I have been asked to remove a sublibrary from the system. All the items and holdings records have been flipped (the code is still there in suppressed HOLs) --and of course in the old orders.

I am wondering - is it safe to delete its line in tab_sub_library first, or should I get it removed from all the circ tables before I do that?

Resolution:
Since it is still in the old orders and since someone may want to display an old order, it is better to just leave it in tab_sub_library (so the code can be translated to the full library name). You could change the library name to "xxxx yyyy (obsolete)". Or, the tab_sub_library entry could be commented out and you could uncomment it later if problems were found....

You can disable the tab15, tab16, and tab17 columns (and remove the sublibrary from the Circ tables). If this sublibrary's items don't have distinct item statuses, then you will need to change columns 6, 7, and 8 in the entry for this sublibrary in tab_sub_library.eng to this sublibrary's code and then:

* change col. 10 in tab15.eng, col. 10, so that this sublibrary's items will not display it OPAC;
* change tab16 so that this sublibrary's items can not be circulated
* change tab17 so that this sublibrary is closed.

You can prevent HOL records for a particular sublibrary from displaying in OPAC by adding an STA $$Suppressed field to them. Or you could delete them. Either could be done with the p_manage_21 Global Change job, run in the xxx60 library.
