    Circ Return "Override Date" return time stays in effect after accidentally clicking button

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

    The "Override Date" function changes the return date/time even when the action is cancelled or "Clear Override" is pressed.

    The functionality (including button and message) does work properly, when you do intend to activate it by clicking "OK."

    {It doesn't really matter for items with daily loan and fine policies (-- since the default date which comes up when you "Override Date" is today's date, if you cancel it, then the date which is in effect is today's date; thus, when the item is returned, it's returned with today's date); it affects items with hourly loan and fine policies. If the time is not accurate for most of the day, then the fines are not being applied consistently or fairly to all students whose items are overdue. For example, some libraries are open for 24 hours of operation where, depending on the timing of events, fines might not be evenly applied to all patrons.}

    Resolution

    This problem has been fixed (by a change to the GUI source file \Circ\Source\ReturnSession.cpp) (part of the executable circ.exe)  (fix request 183), so that canceling the action clears the override due date and time. This will be included in the next version 22 and 23 Service Packs.  (Version 23 rep_change 2123.)
