    Description

Can you advise on the access required by the following UTIL W servers and which services are used by them and whether they are accessed via the web server and/or the GUI clients.

    Resolution

    PC Server
<<js Accessed by GUI clients. Also z39.50 clients access the pc_server specified in the "hostname localhost" line in the  $alephe_tab/z39_server/z39_server.conf .  In addition to your firewall, the $alephe_tab/tab_ip_allowed can also be used to control pc_server access.

    WWW Server
<<js  Accessed by OPAC users and by the Primo server.  The WWW Server should be open to the world (--unless you know of certain IP address ranges from which it should not be accessed).  Also see below in regard to X-Services access via the www_server.

Z39 Server - where does this connect to and who is allowed to connect to this
<<js As noted above, the z39_server connects to the pc_server specified in ./z39_server.conf .   The z39 server is connected to by outside users (such as other libraries' z39.50 clients).

    Z39 Gate
<<js  The z39_gate connects to other libraries' z39 servers

    NCIP Server
<<js  Accessed by other libraries' ncip clients; accesses other libraries' ncip servers

SIP2 server – working with the self-check machines
<<js  Accessed by self-check machines; sends messages back to self-check machines.

    SLNP
    <<js    See the article:  https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/...TARTUP_LIBS%3F

    ARS
    <<js  See the article https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/..._automatically

    ILL
<<js   Necessary only if your library uses Aleph for InterLibrary Loan.  (Most libraries do not.)

    > Please also advise on any other modules, e.g. Circulation, Acquisitions, which may need access.
<<js  X-Services access (via the www_server) should also be considered.  Please see the article on X-services which I have linked to this Case.
