Deletion of expired / not-picked-up hold requests **MASTER RECORD**

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
I'm working on a service to "clean up" requests in Aleph that cannot be found in our Stacks.

For active Z37 records having a Z37_END_REQUEST_DATE prior to the current date, the Hold Requests do not appear in the Circ GUI records. This makes sense to me. My question is this: how do these records eventually get cleared out of the Z37 table? And if the request is never fulfilled, do these records get moved to the Z37H table? I guess I'm curious how Aleph handles these requests that are not filled before the End Request Date arrives.

Here are some examples (in production). All of these contain active records in Z37 but a GUI search does not show a Hold Request in Circulation:

    Z37_REC_KEY Z30_BARCODE Z37_OPEN_DATE Z37_REQUEST_DATE Z37_END_REQUEST_DATE

    Resolution:
KB 16384-33553 discusses the p_cir_17 job, which deletes expired hold requests. If you have Title requests, you should also consult KB 16384-20788.

    KB's 16384-20945 and 16384-25677 talk about deletion of z37's for not-picked-up hold-shelf requests (by p_cir_06).

KB 16384-42193 talks about calculating the number of hold requests actually satisfied.

p_cir_17 and p_cir_06 both take the z37 and make it a z37h. They are moved to the z37h exactly as they are; no change to the z37_status, etc.
