    Deletion of items (z30 records)

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Question

Can items (z30 records) be deleted using a standard service? A list of affected items with Z30 record keys is available.

    Answer

“Delete Item Records (item-11)“ can be used to delete items. The "Record Management" Delete option may delete HOL and BIB records which were connected to the items removed, and are now not in use by any item -- if the xxx01/tab/check_doc BATCH-DELETE lines permit such deletion. See also Knowledge base item 16384-9650.

    Additional Information

“Delete Item Records (item-11)“ will not, under any circumstances, delete items which are on loan. Use the “Loan Report (cir-04)” to produce a list of items with z36 loan records, and handle them prior to running “Delete Item Records (item-11)“.

As described in Knowledge base item 16384-3873, it’s possible to precede each run of “Delete Item Records (item-11)“ by runs of “Hold Shelf Report (cir-06)” and “Report / Delete Expired Hold Requests (cir-17)”, if the items have hold requests.

See also Knowledge base item 16384-40657 for details on running backups and “Delete Item Records (item-11)“.
