GUI crashes due to UTF directional markers

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
The GUI crashes when UTF directional markers are present in a record. (This especially occurs with Arabic records.) The solution is discussed in the "Directionality Solution" Powerpoint on the Ex Libris Documentation Center. It states that "The dll files which are necessary to enable the GUI to edit records with directionality-related UTF characters are:

    Log2Vis.dll
    UniCtype.dll"

How do we obtain these files? Is there anything else that needs to be done other than placing the new files in C:\windows\system32 ?

    Resolution:
We sent a copy of Log2Vis.dll via email. Please replace your copy in the Windows\system32 directory.

    Another site:

    * saved the existing Log2Vis.dll and UniCtype.dll files under other names

    * installed the current v18 GUI in a different directory

    * found that the Log2Vis.dll and UniCtype.dll which it placed in \Windows\system32 were different -- and corrected the problem.
