How are overdue notice days counted

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We have items that are loaned for one day (due same day). One of our patrons loaned such an item and brought it back a week later without being fined. We would have thought with our configuration that a fine would have been given.

Patron loans item on Thursday February 4, should be back at 19.00 same day
Overdue letter is sent on Monday February 8 (4.30AM). This is correct, the weekend is not counted
Second overdue letter (which produces a fine) we would expect to be sent on Thursday Feb 11, three days after the first one was sent, but it isn't
Patrons brings back item on Thursday Feb 11 (13.41 PM) and gets away with it.

This is in our tab32 configuration for this particular item and patron status:

    ##### 04 ## 00 001 001 O 0080
    ##### 04 ## 01 003 003 O 0081
    ##### 04 ## 02 003 003 O 0082
    ##### 04 ## 03 003 003 O

Why wasn't the second overdue item sent three days after the first one? Do we make a mistake in the counting? The overdue process has run without problems that day..

    Resolution:
Additional notes have been added now in chapter 7 "Overdue Notice Schedule" of the Circ Sys Lib Guide to make it more clear how the table tab32 works.
