How is the Z0101 table used?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
What is the z0101 table? How is it used?

    Resolution:
From the znn / z0101.pdf document: "The Z0101 table contains the brief format of records. The brief format is used to sub-arrange the records that are attached to a particular (Browse) heading. These records are built according to the record's format, the headings index and the field of origin."

This table is new in version 15.2. The xxx01/tab_z0101 and tab/tab_z0101_text are related ALEPH tables. In large catalogs there can be many records under a heading such as Shakespeare or Mozart. The z0101 addresses such concerns as automatically-added author-title entries; author-title authority records and cross-references; and sensitivity of default sorting to type of heading.

The How-To document "Brief Records Functionality" has a very good and complete description of the function of the z0101.
