Installing the New GUI

The 18.01 GUI installation program includes the option of upgrading your current GUI. This means that setup parameters (*.ini files) from your older version clients will be copied to the new 18.01 clients and synchronized, minimizing the need to customize the new GUI. In order to apply the upgrade program, you must install the new GUI in the same directory in which the older version GUI is installed. In order to retain your current GUI, first backup the directory (for example copy A500 to A500.16). Install the new GUI in the original or copied directory.

At the end of the installation of the 18.01 GUI, the setup program checks the previous GUI version and prompts the user to confirm that he wants to run the upgrade program. The upgrade program will synchronize the user's configuration (*.ini files) from the previous version with the 18.01 installation. Once the installation is complete you will need to update the /alephcom/tab/library.ini files to point to the new server and/or port.
