In which section of tab_fix should fix_doc_aut_duplicate be defined?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
Should the fix_doc_aut_duplicate routine be defined in the INS section of tab_fix in the authority library, or in the INS2 section?

    Resolution:
There has been a question of whether this fix routine should be defined in the INS2 section of tab_fix (as indicated in the documentation) or the INS section, which is where we needed to put it to get the automatic creation of the $$7 subfield.
After discussion and testing, our QA group has determined that it needs to be in both places to be sure it works in all areas of functionality.
    Specifically:
    ****************************
The INS2 routine will allow you to preview the record after the fix, before sending to server.
Note that it will update the existing records in database.
The INS routine will update the record only after sending to server, but will not allow this preview, so that no existing records will be updated before sending to server.
Please use INS routine for fix, INS2 routine for preview.
This is relevant only for fix_doc_aut_duplicate routine, but not for other INS2 routines.
    *****************************
The documentation will be updated to reflect this.
