    Incorrect-Date-Format FAQ

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
    Dates are not formatted as you want them to be somewhere in the system. (For example, you want mm-dd-yyyy format rather than ...)

    Resolution:

    date_style_s = screen display (in GUI, this controls fields where the date is displayed, NOT editable)
    date_style_f = form display (in GUI, this controls fields where the date can be edited)

    Check the date_style_s and date_style_f setenv's in all three of the following places:

    $alephe_root/
    1. www_server.conf
    2. pc_server_defaults
    3. aleph_start

    The www_server_defaults are used for the Web date format.
    The pc_server_defaults are used for the GUI date style (both screen display and GUI prints)
    The aleph_start is used for batch jobs -- and as the default if there are no date setenv's in #1 (for the Web) or none in #2 (for the GUI).

    For details on date_style_s and date_style_f values, consult the "Aleph System Librarian's Guide - General".

    In addition, in the GUI setup, each user can override this default setting FOR ALL EDITABLE DATE FIELDS on his own computer. The default is set in the user's personal ALEPHCOM\TAB\alephcom.ini and guisys.ini file (to make the change affect all modules).

    The .\alephcom\tab\alephcom.ini line is:
    [Date_Format]
    DateSequence=mdy

    The guisys.ini line is:
    DisplayStyle=16 (16 will give you mm/dd/yyyy ).

    You can set these parameters before the GUI is repackaged and distributed, or you can tell users how to reset their display (to match whatever you choose at the server level).
