Info: Empty table .../utf_files ..." message

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
The pc_server log is full of messages like this:

    Info: Empty table /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_2/alephe/error_eng/pc_cat_c0203
    Load: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/a18_2/aleph/error_eng/pc_cat_c0203

Something appears to be seriously awry.

    Resolution:
The "Info: Empty table /tmp/utf_files/ ... " message is normal. You can get it in different cases:

    1. You will get it with the first access of a file which the system is looking for in utf_files, after util x/7 has been run. If not found, it will create it with the following message:

    creating utf version for file:

    2. error_eng:

In the case of this specific message, "Info: Empty table /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_2/alephe/error_eng ...", the system is first looking for the file in the u-tree: /exlibris/aleph/u18_2/alephe/error_eng/ directory. Since the ./u18_2/alephe/error_eng/ has only your local, customized messages, the *normal* thing is for it to find nothing ("Empty table").

It then looks for the file in the a-tree: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/a18_2/aleph/error_eng/pc_cat_c0203. The a-tree /error_eng/ directory has the complete set of error_eng messages as delivered from Ex Libris.
