    Info: Empty table in logfiles

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
In Aleph-logfiles I see the following error message:

    Info: Empty table /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/error_eng/global

Because of this message, I have copied file global from error_eng under a18_1 to u18_1.
Now the message in the logfiles disappeared but I have strange error messages in GUI.

    Resolution:
The "Info: Empty table"-message is NOT an error message and even not a warning. It is for information only.
Aleph will find the global-error-file under a18_x and therefore no problem exist. You do not need to copy any error file from a18_x to u18_x because of this message. You only should copy error-files from a18_x to u18_x if you want to customize the text of messages.

In detail Aleph is reading the error-files in the following order:

    1) At first the number of the error message is searched in the error-file for the specific program-service (Example: pc_cir_c0441) under ./u18_x/alephe/error_eng.

    2) Then Aleph searchs for a global-error-file under ./u18_x/alephe/error_eng. If the file is present and the searched number is in the global-file, this message will be displayed.

    3) Now the message is searched in the error-file for the specific program-service (Example: pc_cir_c0441) in directory ./a18_x/aleph/error_eng.

    4) If still the message is not found, the system will load the file ./a18_x/aleph/error_eng/global.

Because of this system behaviour we do *NOT* recommend to copy the global-file from ./a18_x/aleph/error_eng/global to ./u18_x/alephe/error_eng. In this case the system might not load the more specific error message from the files under ./a18_x/aleph/error_eng/global anymore.
