Question
Is service 'Remove Patron ID (cir-32)' the only service to scrub circulation logger records (z309)?
Answer
There are two functions that scrub Z309 records:
- 'Remove Patron ID (cir-32)'
- the total_bor_delete program -- used in the GUI and by the cir-23 and file-20 services
Additional Information
The service "Remove Patron ID (cir-32) 'scrubs' the patron information from z309, that is changing the information to "SCR-" to remove the patron id, but keeps the record in the system. Those records are no longer accessible from the patron record, but can be used for statistics.
If you no longer require the circulation logger information (z309) for statistical reasons it is recommended to use service "Circulation Logger Clean up" (cir-78) instead. This service actually deletes the z309 records.
During deletion of patrons not only Z309 records related to the relevant patron are scrubbed but also z31 (cash), z36h (circ history), z35 (circ events), etc., records.
