Item Process Status change for ABLE External Binding

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
When Aleph items are sent/transferred to the Bindery, my understanding is that the settings in $alephe_root/pc_server_defaults are used to change Item Processing Status.
The documentation (and our local settings) indicate this code will be changed to 'SB' (Sent to Bindery)..
In actuality, we do not have a Z30_ITEM_PROCESS_STATUS of 'SB'. Instead we use statuses HA-HF which correspond to six different binding shipments. Our Binding unit prefers multiple codes for Binding shipments because it helps identify which shipment a particular book belongs to..
Question: in the Aleph-ABLE linkup, can we continue using 6 different codes to identify an item as having been sent to the Bindery? If so, does this mean changing the 'setenv ext_bind_process_status' setting in $alephe_root/pc_server_defaults?

    Resolution:
One note regarding the FMT: The format code that you use is bindery specific.
It will change, possibly, with every binder.
The code does not matter, what matters is the mapping (of variable prompts to MARC record addresses) that goes with the codes.
