Load ALEPH Sequential MARC Records (manage-18)" without indexing

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 21

    Desired Outcome Goal:
How can we correct records by adding a new file running "Load ALEPH Sequential MARC Records (manage-18)" without the option to re-index all updated records?

    Procedure:
You may run the loading using "Load ALEPH Sequential MARC Records (manage-18)" without indexing by setting the single user parameter. Please see description in help for p_manage_18:

    • Catalogers Currently Working
If you are the only person currently working with catalog records, you can run this function in single-user mode. This is relevant only if you are adding records. If you run this function in single-user mode, the system will not check the LAST-DOC-NUMBER parameter in the Z52 file (accessible from UTIL G/2) each time it assigns a new document number. You should NEVER run the system in single-user mode if other people are currently cataloging.

When the "Multi-user" mode is selected, the library is not locked and records are added and updated as in standard online cataloging from the module. Note that when this option is selected, the Indexing option of the service must be set to 'FULL'. The "Single user" option is mainly intended for heavy batch loads (for example, when performing conversions) and locks the library

    Additional Information

Please take the warning "You should NEVER run the system in single-user mode if other people are currently cataloging" seriously.
