    1. Additional Information
    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Problem Symptoms:
For document 000043615 in xxx01 there are two items:

    X20047894 belonging to sublibrary xxxm
    X20041741 belonging to sublibrary xxxq

When logged in, a ("Request") link to place a hold appears in the OPAC Item List for the xxxq item, but none for the xxxm item.

The sublibraries' configurations in tab16 , tab15, and tab31 are identical.

    Cause:
The non-display of the Request option for a particular item/patron/location is determined by the "PRE" and "INFO" lines in tab_hold_request. These are those lines in the xxx50 tab_hold_request:
    PRE check_hold_request_a
    PRE check_hold_request_b
    PRE check_hold_request_d
    PRE check_hold_request_c
    PRE check_hold_request_l
    PRE check_hold_request_n

    and

    INFO       check_hold_request_k
    INFO       check_hold_request_o

The specific entry which is preventing the display for XXXM items in this case is check_hold_request_b:

    ! b : if sublibrary and item status are 1105 PRE,POST,CIRC,BK-PRE
! not listed in tab37, item cannot be requested.

The xxx50 tab37 has a line for XXXQ but none for XXXM.

    Resolution:
Add a line (or lines) for XXXM to xxx50 tab37.

    Additional Information

See KB 16384-20598 ("Hold request link not always appearing in OPAC when it should") which, though involving a different tab_hold_request line, demonstrates the same principles.
