    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description
Local PHP scripts that use OCI to access Aleph's Oracle database fail with "No connection to Oracle" message. Aleph itself seems fine.

Aleph and Oracle were shut down and restarted (-- during shutdown, Oracle seemed to think its listener was not running or wasn't responding), but that didn't help.

    Resolution
Campus IT had restarted Apache (not Aleph Apache) using sudo scanner, a user account used for security scanning. Evidently that user doesn't have the correct Oracle environment settings to pass on to Apache, causing the php oci8 database connect error. After restarting Apache (not Aleph Apache), our scripts could connect just fine.
