    Description:
v18 Aleph has always added a barcode if library doesn't put one in.

One of our librarians was thinking that v18 was going to include a tab100 parameter for Receive
Item Barcode that could be answered Y Aleph should assign a barcode if barcode field
is blank or N Aleph should "not" assign a barcode when item barcode is blank and produce
a message that says Item Barcode missing.

Their rationale is that if their policy is to provide a "library" barcode and they forget, they want to be prompted for their
own barcode and not to accept a system-generated barcode. Please advise!

    Resolution:
There is no option which lets you prevent the assigning of item barcodes by the system in the same way, for instance, the tab100 "DEFAULT-BOR-ID-1 = N" prevents the automatic generation of patron barcodes.

(The tab100 "CHECK-BARCODE = N" lets you create items with no barcode --thus circumventing barcode generation--, but I'm pretty certain that that is not what you would want.)
