Preventing circulation checks from being performed in certain cases

    Description

We are planning to use option 03 in tab27 for a specific delivery unit. As the system automatically loans the document to the patron when it is returned, we were wondering if there was a way to not apply checks for this specific case of 03? That is, even if the patron already has the maximum number of items on loan, we would like Aleph to automatically loan this new item (resulting from the "03"), without doing the usual checks... is there a way to configure this behavior?

    Resolution

There is no provision in Aleph for doing the check_circ_n_x routines specified in tab_check_circ only under certain conditions:  the checks are performed -- unless overridden by some other parameter -- in all cases.   "Unless overridden" because there are certain cases where the check is circumvented by a particular parameter value....

For example, in the case of the max number of loans, if the z305_loan_check (which appears in the GUI Local Privileges as "Check transactions") has a value of "N", then it will bypass the checks.
And, in the case of a particular item status in combination with a particular patron status, tab16 column 12 can be set to "999" which is effectively no limit.

Similarly, z305_over_permission= Y (which appears in the GUI as "Override privilege") causes the check_circ_1_b ("check blocks") check to be circumvented.

But the z305 parameters pertain to particular patron statuses or individual patrons:  there is no provision for the checks to be bypassed in the case of a particular tab27 setting.
