Problems with the Cataloging Services Menu?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
When I connect my Cataloging client to the Holdings library or the Authority library, I only see the services associated with the Bibliographic library in the Services Menu. For example, manage-31 for loading authorities isn't present, even though I'm connecting to the Authority library.

    Resolution:
There can be a problem when you include any of the menu xml files in the u-tree:

    /exlibris/aleph/u20_1/alephe/pc_b_eng

    > ls *menu*
    menu-catalog-aut.xml menu-catalog.xml menu-catalog-hol.xml

There is no problem with including regular services xml files here, but the presence of any menu files can cause erratic behavior. To correct this, you will have to do this:

    Rename menu-catalog.xml, menu-catalog-aut.xml, and menu-catalog-hol.xml in the a-tree (/exlibris/aleph/a20_3/aleph/pc_b_eng) to something like:

menu-catalog.xml.as.delivered, menu-catalog-aut.xml.as.delivered, and menu-catalog-hol.xml.as.delivered, and then move your customized versions from the u-tree into the a-tree location. Make sure there are no menu-type files in /exlibris/aleph/u20_1/alephe/pc_b_eng.

Then restart the pc_server and reconnect you GUI Cataloging client. Then connect to your Authority library. You should see the correct options under Services menu.
