Update AIK and Upgrade Express docs to prevent Demo Libs load problems

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
There have been various cases where libraries have loaded the Demo Libs *after* loading the customer data. This has caused the problems with vir01 (such as Harvard's SI 16384-245613). The Aleph Installation Kit and the Upgrade Express documents need to be updated to prevent these problems. The following Notes should be added:

Note 1: VIR01 is normally a DEMO library. If the Demo libs import is being done on a server where customer data has already been loaded and is being used, in order to avoid conflicts in the use of vir01 tables, Aleph (or at least the pc_server and www_server) should be shut down while the import is running.

Note 2: If your usr_library and/or pw_library in aleph_start is set to USR00, this process will delete your patron and/or password data! (It is our strong recommendation that the USR00 *not* be used as your usr_library or pw_library.)

    Resolution:
The “Aleph Installation Kit.pdf” document is updated and published.

The "Upgrade Express 19.01 to 20.x User Guide" document has been updated.
I added the requested notes about VIR01 and USR00, in chapter 3 - under section 4. "Importing Demo Libraries" and bafore section 5. "View/Update Upgrade Parameters and Check Environment".
