    Question

What does the xxx50/tab/tab100 UPDATE-RECALL-DATE parameter do?

    Answer

Note: These scenarios apply to items with multiple holds. See Additional Information section for sample results

    Scenario A: xxx50/tab/tab100 UPDATE-RECALL-DATE = Y
    * Recall is placed AT THE TIME OF LOAN
    * Recall Due Date and Recall Date are entered
    * Due Date is a shortened loaned Due Date (due to existing holds/requests)
    * When Recall Items on Loan (cir-13) is run, it detects that the loan already has a Recall Due Date and Recall Date, so no additional recall is made and the Due Date is not changed

    Scenario B: xxx50/tab/tab100 UPDATE-RECALL-DATE = N
    * Recall is NOT placed AT THE TIME OF LOAN
    * Recall Due Date and Recall Date fields are blank
    * Due Date is a shortened loaned Due Date (due to existing holds/requests)
    * When cir-13 is run, it detects that the loan does NOT have a Recall Due Date and Recall Date, so a recall is made and the Due Date may be shortened further to the NEW Recall Due Date

    Additional Information

    * Sample Results from Scenario A: UPDATE-RECALL-DATE = Y
Immediate Recall at time of Loan
    effective due date = 11/Dec/2009
    Output:
    Loan Type Hold Request Loan
    Loan Time 04/Dec/2009 16:35
    Due Time 11/Dec/2009 23:59
    Original Due Date 11/Dec/2009
    Loan Librarian TCIRC
    Recall Due Date 11/Dec/2009
    Recall Date 04/Dec/2009
Number of Renewals 0 (out of 6). No limit on latest due date.
Running cir-13 after the above would not change the due date.

    Sample Results from Scenario B: UPDATE-RECALL-DATE = N
cir-13 Recall / not immediate / no recall at time of loan
    Before cir-13 is run
    Loan Type Hold Request Loan
    Loan Time 04/Dec/2009 16:48
    Due Time 11/Dec/2009 23:59
    Original Due Date 11/Dec/2009
    Loan Librarian TCIRC
    Recall Due Date [BLANK]
    Recall Date [BLANK]
Number of Renewals 0 (out of 6). No limit on latest due date.
effective due date = 11/Dec/2009 (Shortened Loan Due Date)

    After cir-13 is run
    Loan Type Hold Request Loan
    Loan Time 04/Dec/2009 16:35
    Due Time 11/Dec/2009 23:59
    Original Due Date 11/Dec/2009
    Loan Librarian TCIRC
    Recall Due Date 07/Dec/2009
    Recall Date 04/Dec/2009
Number of Renewals 0 (out of 6). No limit on latest due date.
effective due date = 07/Dec/2009 (New Recall Due Date)
