    Why do we have "$0.00" Claim return cash transactions?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
    We see patron cash records which look like this:

    Description Debit Net amount

    Claim return 0.00 0.00

    What are these and why do we have them?

    Resolution:
    The "claim return 0.00" cash transaction is due to the following line in the xxx50 tab18.eng:

    0010 ##### ## ## N 0.00 Claim return

    Apparently, someone felt that some sites might want to *charge* the customer for claiming that the item has been returned!

    The tab18.eng header says:

    ! COL 5. 1; ALPHA {Y,N}, UPPER; ;
    ! Activate;
    ! Y/N
    ! Y = register cash transaction
    ! N = do not register cash transaction. In this case
    ! cash transactions of this type will be registered with
    ! the value 0.00 without regard to tab18.eng col.5 or the
    ! the value set in the pertinent table as explained in the
    ! first paragraph of this help;

    I believe that if you *delete* this line "0010" that no "claim return" cash transaction will be generated.
