    Question

    The Z305 borrower record can be defined at the:
    [1] system level (z305_sublibrary "ALEPH");
    [2] library level (z305_sublibrary "XXX50");
    [3] sublibrary level (z305_sublibrary yyyyy) <where "yyyyy" is an actual sublibrary code>.

    Which of these do I need?

    Answer

    First, you need to answer this question: If a borrower were to check books out at library 1 versus library 2, would they need to have different Z305 values (borrower status, expiration date, etc.)?

    *If the borrower status, expiration date, etc., which you are putting into the records is the same, then you don't need to have multiple records.*

    What you can definitely eliminate in this circumstance is the sublibrary-level borrower record. (Note: the system looks for the lowest level record appropriate for the situation: Is there a matching sublib-level z305? Use it. If not, is there a matching library-level z305? Use it. If not, use the ALEPH z305.)

    Note: the user_list_aleph_local and USER-SHARING options are relevant to how the ALEPH z305 is used in relation to the XXX50 z305. See link to Article 000039699 ("Display of Local Borrower Records / ALEPH Borrower Record") in Additional Information below in this regard.
