tab17, z301, Open Hours Interface, and incorrect due dates.

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
When QCMUS reserve book was checked out on Wednesday, it was due two days later (the info is below) instead of two hours later the same day. All tables were OK (tab16,17 and tab_sub_library.eng).

So I used util a/17/1 for the z301 (in abc50) restart, then the due date was OK: the loan of the same item to the same patron on 03/04 12:35pm till 2:35pm. However, tab17 has been changed: The only default hours defines -- it looked like for most sublibraries! -- and 05, 06 and 00?

    And the permanently closed days:
####0101, ####0704, ####1224, ####1225, ####1231 are not at the top of the calendar anymore, but at the end, why?

Note: Username Yearwood is granted privileges/permissions to change only QC libs. via open hours interface.

    Resolution:
tab17 can be changed in one of three ways: directly on the server, via ALEPHADM, via the GUI Loan --Open Hours.

You don't say anything about using ALEPHADM, so I assume that is not a factor.

You refer to the use of the GUI Loan --Open Hours by the QC staff.

When you update tab17 directly on the server, the changes you make take effect only when the z301 is recreated (either

    by util a/17/1,
    by running p_cir_01, or
by the pc_cir_c0401 GUI program upon change to a new day).

When you update tab17 via the GUI Loan --Open Hours and click on Apply, the changes are made to tab17 and the z301 is updated immediately.

The GUI Loan --Open Hours updates the tab17 in the following fashion:

    * the yyyymmdd exceptions are placed first within the section

    * the ####mmdd exceptions are next within the section

    * the ######## lines are last within the section

(This is the correct order of the lines.)

I can see from your description three types of problems which might be occurring:

    1. tab17 is incorrect (because of update from GUI Loan --Open Hours or ???)

    2. the z301 is incorrect (because of ???)

    3. though the z301 is correct, the due date which is assigned is incorrect

Note: in some circumstances we have found that it necessary to restart the pc_server in order for due-date changes take effect. If you have made the necessary changes and the due-dates have not taken effect, restart the pc_server.

If you find that tab17 is being updated by the GUI Loan --Open Hours in such a way (placing exceptions in the wrong place) that the due dates are incorrect, then please give exact examples.
