    Question

How can the phone number and email address validation settings be changed?

When adding new patron email address or phone numbers, some email address or phone numbers that appear valid, are rejected by Alma, often with a message such as "Field Email Address must have a valid form" or "Must be numeric".

    Answer

Email address and phone numbers are validated in Alma using regular expressions (regex).
The regex used for these, and other user related fields are found in:

    Configuration Menu > User Management > General > Other settings > email_regex

    Additional Information

Contact support for assistance with creating regular expressions.

There are several online resources available to aid in constructing and testing regular expressions e.g. http://www.regexr.com
