Question

I am trying to relink holding to another bibliographic record, using List of Holdings > Actions > Relink, but if an inventory is currently loaned, Alma produces an error "There are loans registered for this item. Please handle the loans before {0} this item." and does not allow relinking. How can I relink holding when connected inventory is on loan?

Answer

There are two workaround options:

1) Merge Records & Combine Inventory available in MD Editor: Tools > MARC Bibliographic > Merge Records & Combine Inventory. Please note that a merge routine should not be chosen in this case. Done in such way, relinking holdings is possible also for loaned inventory.

2) Items can be moved to another bib using "Relink to another bib" see this article - https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Knowledge_Articles/How_to_move_items_from_one_BIB_record_to_another%3F
