    Question

Jobs such as the SIS report, Import Profile and others, show different numbers regarding "Files" processed against the report "Records" processed.

What does "Total records processed" or "Records processed" mean in relation to records processed by a Job?

For example, when looking at "Monitor Jobs", we see that the SIS (Student Information System), or Import Profiles, sometimes refer to "records" interchangeably, counting instead the files processed. Can this label be clarified?

    Answer

The Development team has confirmed that "Total records processed" is an internal development label, referring to the number of SIPs (or "bins"). This count is not always relevant for customers, but does have relevance for the Development team.

It is recommended to check the job Report. It will detail the records that were processed, such as "Total users processed". In this example, the Report refers to the the total number of users contained in the XML file that the job ran on. This total is further broken down into categories/lists detailing the outcomes of the job:

    • Total users rejected
    • Total users updated successfully
    • Total users created successfully
    • Total users unchanged

In the case of Import Profiles, the Report will detail the number of records processed, as well as the number of Files.
