    Question

When placing a request from a reading list an error is thrown "Bulk requesting is not supported for serial records." What is causing this error?

    Answer

This error is thrown because you are trying to use the bulk requesting mechanism on a record that is considered a serial record. If your bibliographic record has multiple items with descriptions configured, this can cause the error. For example multi-volume sets where the volumes are indicated by the description field may cause this error. For instance, see the example items below:

    Items_MultiVolume.png

This record would cause the error because these items are configured with multiple, different descriptions. To prevent this error, avoid using bulk requesting by navigating to (Reading list > Find the item > Row actions > Manage Fulfillment Options > Place Request).
