Why can expired patrons place requests?

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Alma

    Question

Why can expired patrons place requests, although they cannot checkout materials?

    Answer

Alma expects external users to be blocked via the external authentication application (LDAP, etc.).

Once the user is authenticated, Alma will provide them with all ‘patron facing’ actions (to avoid disruption of patron services, since they have been authenticated) - up until allowing them to request the item. This is the planned functionality.

    Additional Information

If you were to remove the user’s patron role (or add a block), the users will not be able to place requests.
