    Performance Tracking File

In cases where Alma is subject to performance issues (e.g. long search times), Ex Libris asks that you open a support issue and attach the Performance Tracking file to the issue. The information in the file can help the Ex Libris support team and engineers resolve the issue.

A video explaining how to generate this file and submit it as part of a support case can be found here.

    FAQ

Q: What is the Performance Tracking file used for?

A:  The file is used by Ex LIbris support and development to identify pages and/or actions that may have performance issues, and help identify the possible sources of such system behavior.

Q: What information does the Tracking File contain?

A: The file contains technical information on the page, parameters and session details (with no identifying user details) which can provide Ex Libris engineers with information that can assist in pinpointing possible performance related issues.

Q: Why is the file encrypted?

A: Best security practices mandate that technical system information should not be presented to end users in clear text.  This type of information might help an attacker gain more information which may lead to attacks to the target system.

Q: Why does Ex Libris need me to send a file?

A: As Alma is a web based service, page rendering happens within the context of a user's browser.  The information relating to the browser side rendering and performance can only be generated from the user's browser.  This information needs to be saved in a file so it can then be submitted to Ex LIbris along with additional information provided in the support case.

Q: What kind of information should be provided in addition to the file when opening the support issue?

A: Please continue to provide a description of the problem and the browser’s version. Please also provide steps that were done before the performance tracking file was created.
