Resource Sharing - August 2017 Enhancements

    Limiting Resource Sharing Requests

The number of resource sharing requests that can be created may now be limited during a given year, regardless of request status. The existing Active resource sharing requests limit Terms of Use policy (of Borrowing Resource Sharing type) already allows an institution to limit resource sharing requests. However, this places a limit only on active requests. When the new Yearly resource sharing requests limit policy is configured, a borrowing request may be blocked if a patron has exceeded the borrowing request allowance for the year. Deleted requests are not counted toward the limit.

A new parameter, rs_yearly_ill_limit_start_date, was added to Other Settings in Fulfillment Configuration. This parameter contains the first day of the year for consideration of the annual limit. The date format is DDMM and defaults to 0101.
When the patron has exceeded the number of allowed booking requests per year, the link to create a new request in Primo is hidden.
For more information, see Adding Fulfillment Policies.

    Associating Borrowing Requests with Funds

You can now link a borrowing request to a fund (see Manually Creating a Borrowing Request). This feature can be used to track resource sharing transactions.
To use this feature, the new Resource Sharing fund type must be activated. You can then attach any fund associated with the Resource Sharing fund type to a borrowing request. See Configuring Fund Types.
Currently, you must add the Fund-Ledger Viewer role to any operator who would like to use this feature. This will be fixed in an upcoming release.
Requests that have costs and funds create encumbrances. Encumbered requests must be rolled over to each new fiscal year. See Rolling Over Resource Sharing Requests.
For more information, see Borrowing Requests Associated with Funds.

    Additional Resource Sharing Enhancements

    • The call number from a borrowing request may now be added to the following letters:
      • FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter - use the outgoing/display/call_number element
      • FulTransitSlipLetter - use the phys_item_display/call_number element
      • FulReasourceRequestSlipLetter - use the call_number_from_borrowing element
    • On an article borrowing request, the article title and BIB title (245) will now both be populated with the journal title if an article title has not been included. See Manually Adding a Borrowing Request.
    • The borrower recall step was added to the lender workflow profile (Fulfillment > Fulfillment Configuration > Configuration Menu > Resource Sharing > Workflow Profiles). When this step is disabled, the recall option is hidden on the borrowing request's row actions. When the step is enabled, which is the default, the recall option is displayed. See Adding Workflow Profiles.
