    What can you tell me about the data in these reports?


    Library Book Reports let you analyze print usage through your library catalog. Note that in order for these reports to generate information about print usage, libraries need to have uploaded their ILS files (including bibliographic, holdings, item, circulation, and acquisitions data).

    The below reports include the following information:
    • Report: The report name
    • Data Source: Where the data is coming from. If the report includes multiple sources, the most pertinent source is listed
    • Notes: Useful information about the report

    BOOKS

    Report Data Source Notes
    Top Chart Publisher from Books In Print (or Library s bibliographic records if proper identifier is not available.) Cost information from library s acquisition records. Top 10 Publishers by Expenditure and Top 10 Publishers by Circulation.


    Note: Adobe Flash Player plugin needed for viewing Top Charts reports.
     
    Print Cost by Publisher Publisher from Books In Print (or Library s bibliographic records if proper identifier is not available.) Cost information from library s acquisition records. Includes links to view Usage Detail report for a publisher. Usage Details is a title level cost per use report.
    Print Cost by Subject LC/Dewey from Books In Print (or Library s bibliographic records if proper identifier is not available.) Cost information from library s acquisition records. Includes LC/Dewey Subject Headings, Categories, and Sub-Categories.
    Check Outs by Year (Title Level) Books In Print (or Library s bibliographic records if proper identifier is not available).
    Provides table view by title and graphical view by Subject (LC or Dewey).
     
    Circulation Dynamics (Item Level) Date Added data from library's acquisition records.

    First Use and Last Use data from library's circulation records.
    Months Until is the date of first use minus the date the title was added.

    Can filter by local call numbers.
     
    Print CPU (Cost Per Use) (Item Level) Library's holdings and acquisition records. Can filter by LC/Dewey Subject Headings and/or local call numbers.

    Use the Currency filter at the top of the report to view MSRP in different currencies.


    ** Local call numbers are available in this report. See the September 2015 note below this table.
     
    Print Book Forthcoming Books in Print. Provides access to titles 180 days before they are available, by subject heading and sub-headings.

    Click through to view Books in Print title metadata and view suggested retail prices by format.
    Ebook Deselection See report information in Deselection Reports article.  


    ** As of September 2015, local call numbers can display in addition to Library of Congress and Dewey numbers from Books In Print. If you have previously provided ILS Data, you have included the Local Call No column in the Print CPU (Cost Per Use) report display, and the Local Call No column is empty, we currently do not have your local call numbers mapped.

    If your library's ILS does not use transactional data where each record contains an associated date for each individual use:

     

    • Note that there are some constraints on the below reports. For further details see Non-transactional Circulation Data
      • Top Chart (Top 10 Publishers by Circulation)
      • Print Cost by Publisher
      • Print Cost by Subject
      • Checkouts by Year
      • Circulation Dynamics
      • Print CPU (Cost Per Use)
