Why do we have to wait a day for our changes in Intota to take effect, and what time do those changes take effect?

When you make changes to your library's profile in Intota (such as adding a database, displaying or hiding certain features, making branding or other customization changes to your patron-facing services, etc.), your patrons will not see those changes until the next day.
This is because such changes cannot take place instantly; our system is designed to apply these changes just once a day, in the early morning hours in ProQuest's office in Seattle, Washington, USA.
This process of refreshing and updating our system (what we call the "cache build") takes several hours, but sometimes it takes longer. During this time, your patrons still have access to our system, and you can continue to make changes in Intota. (In other words, our system is not "down" during this process.)
The process begins at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Pacific Time (convert to your time zone). Any changes you've made (and saved) in Intota by that time will become available to your patrons once the process is done several hours later. Changes can be made in Intota after that time, but they won't become available to patrons until the following day, more than 24 hours later.
Although it usually is done earlier, the process is almost always complete by 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (convert to your time zone). If that time has passed and you still haven't seen your changes take effect, please contact us using the Contact Us feature.
    • The Summon® service relies on a data feed from your Intota profile for the access rights associated with your content. Once your Intota profile data is updated, the Summon service may require up to 72 hours to refresh rights information and changes to your Library Settings.  See Central Discovery Index Update for information on when the Index was last updated.

    • COUNTER usage reports you upload into your Intota profile, and costs you attach to resources, adhere to the data upload schedule for consolidating cost and usage data and making it available in the Intota reports you run to assess your collection.

Most ProQuest discovery services allow some way to view your changes when you make them, rather than waiting for the daily refresh: Click Preview in the appropriate service (such as in the Administration Console) and you'll see how your changes will look. This gives you the opportunity to revert or correct your changes before they begin to appear for your patrons.
