Technical Requirements for Local Primo and SFX Installations
Introduction
Before you can start using CDI, make sure that your local environment is ready to use the CDI service. The following types of connections are used:
-
Primo accesses CDI for search and retrieval.
-
CDI retrieves holdings files from SFX or Alma to calculate availability statements. For more details, see Publishing SFX Institutional Holdings to CDI and Publishing to Central Discovery Index from Alma.
Perform the following checks to verify your connections for local installations.
Local Primo Installation
If you have a local Primo installation, perform the following actions to check your connection:
-
Verify that you are using the Primo February 2020 Release or later release.
-
Use either the wget or telnet command to verify that your Primo server can establish a connection to the CDI server at the following domain:
fe.p.prod.primo.saas.exlibrisgroup.com:1701
-
If your Primo server uses a firewall, verify that outgoing communication is allowed to the above domain.
Local SFX Installation
If you have a local SFX installation, perform the following actions to check your connection:
-
Ensure sure that your installation is using the latest SFX version. You can check the release notes section for the latest version.
-
Use the CDI export option to create or update your institutional holdings file on the relevant link resolver instance. For more information, see the SFX Administration Guide. In order to keep CDI up to date with your changes, you need to schedule the export to run on a regular basis.
-
Ensure sure that the following CDI IP addresses are configured in the config/get_file_restriction.config file on the relevant SFX instance to allow retrieval of the CDI holdings file from the link resolver server on HTTP port 80:
- 66.151.7.1 – 66.151.7.254
- 216.147.209.15
- 216.147.212.85
- 216.147.208.176
- 216.147.209.15
- 216.147.218.97
-
If your link resolver uses a firewall, verify that the CDI IP addresses are not blocked.
