    NERS2.pngCERV Enhancement #8182

    What's New? Highlights Impact

It will be possible to automatically suppress bibliographic records from Primo VE, if they do not have available inventory and do not have relations.

    • Titles without available inventory will not appear in Primo VE search.

    • Inactive portfolios will be considered "no available inventory".

    • If the bibliographic record is part of a relation, it will not be automatically suppressed.

    • This will be the situation regardless of the “Suppress” status that appears as an eye icon in Alma or the workflow which deleted/deactivated inventory.

A streamlined process for suppressing bibliographic records when there is no available inventory ensures that the catalog remains accurate, displaying only currently available resources in discovery. Excluding bibliographic records that are part of a relation avoids broken links.

New Top Level Facet - Available on Shelf

    NERS2.pngCERV Enhancement #8756

    What's New? Highlights Impact

Introducing a new top-level facet, “Available on Shelf”, in Primo VE. This facet goes beyond the existing “Held by Library” facet by not only displaying items physically held by the library but also reflecting their current availability on the shelf based on the calculation of items’ status. It provides users with a more accurate view of accessible physical resources in real-time.

    • A new "Available on Shelf" facet will allow users to filter search results based on the physical availability of items.

    • This facet will be displayed without a count, consistent with other top-level facets in Primo VE.

    • Institutions can configure which locations and libraries are included when calculating the physical availability.

This configuration will be limited to the Institution Zone (IZ) level holdings. In addition, calculation of the availability will not be based on items policies.

    • During Implementation of this enhancement, we will examine the impact of this facet on real-time and full-indexing times. If significant delays are identified, a disclaimer will be added closer to release.

    • Currently, in Advanced Search, when using the "equals exact phrase" operator for titles, Primo VE retrieves results that match the combined subfields 245 $a and $b.

    • With this enhancement, institutions can configure whether to include title exact matches for 245 $a in addition to 245 $a$b,

Improved Search Experience with more flexibility to match the results to your needs.

Add A-Z to Database and Journal Searches

    NERS2.pngCERV Enhancement #8760

    What's New? Highlights Impact

Adding to the Database/Journal Search page an A-Z navigation bar directly under the search box, allowing users to quickly browse databases/journals starting with the selected letter or number (0-9).

    • In addition to the existing auto-complete functionality on the Database/Journal Search pages, an A-Z navigation bar will now be included below the search bar, offering users the familiar ability to click on a letter and quickly retrieve all databases or journals starting with that letter.

    • Institutions can select which languages to display in the A-Z navigation bar from the list of patron-facing languages configured in the institution's settings.

    • Institutions can include a 0-9 section for each language or configure the A-Z characters for each language.

Improved Search Experience with more flexibility to match the results to your needs.

Institutions using DC Application Profiles can leverage their defined custom DC fields for display, search and facets in Discovery.

    • Alma provides customizable Dublin Core (DC) profiles, allowing institutions to add local fields for metadata not supported by the standard DC format. With this enhancement, you can utilize these fields in Discovery.

    • Primo VE will enhance the Manage display and local field settings to include a section for DCAP, similar to other supported formats.

Better manage and expose what is most relevant.

Open Out-of-the-Box Normalizations for Facets and Search (Proof of Concept)

    What's New? Highlights Impact

Primo VE will provide flexibility to custom-specified out-of-the-box fields for search and facet.

    • Following customer requests, Primo VE will explore the ability to edit the Out-of-the-Box (OTB) search and facet rules. The goal is to provide flexibility for institutions while maintaining stability and efficient real-time indexing. As part of this effort, we will begin by working on specific fields and introducing an option to designate these fields as potential candidates for overrides by custom configurations.

    • A Proof of Concept (POC) will be implemented to assess the feasibility of this flexibility in meeting customer needs.

Better manage and expose what is most relevant.
