    How Do Files Move during the updateRepresentation Web Service

    What happens in terms of file movement during the updateRepresentation web service?

    Answer

    Update representation behaves differently when performed from the UI (add representation or replace a file) and from the API.
    In general the flow of the deposit is: Customer file is copied/moved to the Deposit storage. Then the file is copied to the operational shared (or symbolic link is created). Then the file is moved / copied to the permanent.

    In update a representation from UI, the flow is: Customer file is copied to the Operational_share. From there it is copied/moved to the Operational storage and continues as deposit flow.

    In updateRepresentation from API, the flow is: Customer file is symbolic linked / copied to the Operational storage. From there it is copied/moved to the Permanent storage.
