Setting Up Google Analytics
The following sections explain how to connect with:
- Google Analytics
- Google Tag Manager
Connecting with Google Analytics (Direct GA4)
Some features in Google Analytics might work only in Chrome and not in Edge.
To connect with Direct GA4 connection:
- In https://analytics.google.com/, create a GA4 property if you already do not have one.
- Go to Admin > Data Streams > Web to view your Measurement ID (e.g. G-XXXXXXXXXX)
- Provide the Measurement ID to Clarivate to configure in your settings.
You can register custom dimensions in GA4 so the custom parameters appear in standard reports.
Registering custom dimensions is optional, but it is highly recommended.
To register custom dimensions in GA4:
- Go to GA4 > Admin > Custom definitions > Custom dimensions > Create and add:
Name Scope Event parameter Search Type Event search_type Event Type Event event_label search_term is a standard GA4 parameter and appears automatically
You will receive the following events automatically:
| GA4 Event Name | Triggered when | Parameters |
| search | User runs a search (4 search types: new, advanced, field, linked) |
search_term, search_type |
